have your pics ready for review? How much time do you spend on editing?

When i was doing film (20+ years ago)I told them it was a mim of 3 weeks for the proofs but I usually got them to them in 2.

I was out of town the whole week after the wedding and I am also not a full time photog so I work a regular job and we have been busy 60+ hours a week the last two. Today is three weeks. I just about have them done. I am burning a backup copy as i type. Hope to mail them to them by tuesday am.

does that seem like a long time to you guys?

I guess it would all depend on how many photos need PP. For me, I tell clients that it'll take 3-5 weeks to have their DVD completed. I too have a full time job and the B&G understand that up front. Typically on a 6 hr. job I take 500-600 photos (give or take)...sometimes more...so what you're asking isn't out of the norm and reasonable.

I say four weeks but as I shoot more weddings, I find myself building actions and making use of lightroom/PS more effectively that I spend less and less time editing. I now take as little as 3 minutes per picture to PP. Before I used to sit around 10-15 mins per pic. Huge difference.

3 weeks would seem fine. This year I have been saying to the couple that it'll take 2-3 weeks - to give myself extra time just incase. I'm pretty slow on the ol' PP and take 25-35 hours to wade through and edit from 1000 photos.

For about 2000 shots it took me about 12 hrs of PP.

Gave out a good 300 keepers. At least 500 are good but a bit repetitive so i have to discard them down to 300.

That's excluding more special effects ones, BW and sepia shots.

I say 2-3 weeks for proofs- I take 500 down to 200 presentable ones

I used to say 5 days for proofs and now I've pushed it to one week. I sort them the night of the wedding (see what time I'm posting this right now? I'm not big on sleeping during the nights...) I then spend the next few days going through doing big batch corrections in bridge usually 40 pictures at a time. After that, I separate them out into vertical and horizontal and run Image Processor in CS2 to size them and sharpen them for the web. I generally goof off online while that is running  Then it's a simple matter to upload them to my proof hosting site (exposure manager) and e-mail the couple the gallery link and password. One to two weeks later I put up a retouched gallery of 20-40 images that were my favorites that I do "special" stuff to.

I say 7-10 business days for the online proofs unless something major and unexpected happens in "real life." Usually I have them up within 3 or 4. Culling is the hardest part.

I tell the couple 4-6 weeks but aim to have them done sooner - I just last night finished pp-ing a wedding from 3 weeks ago - I have been on holiay abroad for a week in between too! I would have probably had them finished within 10 days otherwise.

I say 30 business days, sometimes more in summer. In practice I can have color corrected proofs ready in 2 days if i'm working at it. My average delivery time is less than a week, but i'm full time.

I "promised" 2 weeks in my first two contracts....My wife made me change it two 30 days from here on out  My first wedding was a week ago, and so far I've at leasted picked out the "keepers" (~400), so now I have to process them in ACR. I'm going to try to put a big dent in them tonight.

I did email one nice shot to the bride the morning after the wedding, and she really liked it. Figure that way they have something to enjoy on the honeymoon.

I get all the processing & web gallery and DVD ready in an average of 9.3 days....but I tell people 2 weeks so I have some breathing space when busy

Wedding was October 4th, so far all I have selected all the keepers (~400 out of 1200 shots), processed the Formals and posted them up on my website. Now I just have to do the Ceremony, the Cocktail Hour, and the Reception. Gonna try to get through the ceremony tonight. I did just install Gallery2 on my web server, so that at least makes the web posting stuff pretty easy.

Something like "photographers shopping cart" will pay for itself in print orders in no time. I have the occasional $1000 print order, and during the summer I get many regular print orders from $50 to $500. Just make sure you price on par with other local professionals, for example a 6x4 from me is $10 and i'm relatively cheap in my area.
