Sorry...

had to get that out.

Very frustrated with this whole buying my first camera thing.

The only thing I do know is that I want a Canon!

*rant...rave*

thanks

Well don't sweat the comparison shopping part. You've got access to first hand accounts of just about every camera Canon makes. All ya gotta do is ask about a camera, or give a price range, and you'll get plenty of responses. Good luck finding your camera.

Hi!
I know the feeling all too well!! I was there when I wanted to jump from the point and shoot to the digital era. Well, after much research I had decided on Canon. To this day I am not sorry! Back in high school I took a photography course and used a Pentax K100. This idea of interchangable lenses captivated me and now to afford it. One other note, I took a pic and made the local paper, never got credit for it, but what could I do, I was only 18 at the time and it was really for another teacher...that's a long story.

So jump ahead to Dec, 1999 finding me in Tucson, Arizona (Never again!!! I'll just say that 112F/45C is about 100F/ 60C too warm for me, 'nuf said!) and I ordered the EOS 50E (35mm). I went out into the desert and shot a roll or 2 just to see what I could get. I was really impressed! Shortly, thereafter I went on holiday to get away from 90s and sun everyday to western Washington State. Now that rocked! It rained every day of the fortnight (2 weeks) I was there and not once did I even dream of seeing the sun. I have many pics and I tell you what the difference between the scrub of the desert and the lush green of western Washington is night and day. I didn't realise how much I missed trees and green! I would have been more than content to stay there, but job calls and back I went. It was beyond awesome there and I am planning on going back...someday. Now we jump ahead to October, 2000 on a trip to the Northeastern US for some fall foliage. Those who have not seen that just can't understand what they are missing!! Again lots of pics from the Northeastern US and Canada. Lots of great shots. Then was on to New York City, and I have some pics of what were the Twin Towers in Nov, 2000. Skip ahead to the near past and I odered the Canon EOS 10D and si far I'm really impressed! I really like being able to see the pics after I take them instead of wondering well, did I do that pic right??? For the most part I have been spot on. Yes I have some junk pics, but only 2-3 of each set of 24.

Interestingly enough, if you check out the topic I started, in "CANON DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FORUM : Canon EOS-D(igital) cameras," then "Canon 10D and non-Canon lenses" There have been some rather interesting posts.

So I have my digital camera, the 10D and have shot about 20-25 pics and one turned out a little darker then I wanted, but no worries...I went in and tweeked it and it is all good! I think there I left some information on it. I'll go check...yup and this started with an "Err 99" message. Please read it! It is rather interesting and most of us are more or less amateurs anyway.
User "jazt" adds some interesting insight much like the problem I had. I'm also finding that the Sigma website is down, and I ge the "Cannot find server..." bit from my browser. Do read up and that will help you. Also, look at the reviews, like www.dcresource.com, www.dpreview.com, etc.
Later!

Sad but true, after your first digicam you`ll want the second with better specs.

We all have to go through that process.

Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrggggggrrrrrrr or maybe 1Ds.
