I was asked to shoot University of Manchester men and women's tennis game, had no idea what to expect, and it turned out to be a dark, very dark venue ...
All shots at ISO3200 f2.8 with MAX 1/250, straight from RAW to JPG ... noise ninja helped me out fair a bit, oh flash wasn't allowed

Great images really shows what 3200 can do in the right hands, the way you handled this is wonderfull.
personal fav is the last one at full stretch.

Cheers folks for your nice feedback, I really wish light could be better, maybe next time I'll try outdoor shots.

Thanks Martin, I was really worried about using 3200, but I had no choice, then all I could do is to make sure no shots were underexposed to minimise the noise level.
I love that full stretch one, too, however, games weren't competitive as pro's, there weren't many great actions, however, I did capture all 4 stretches during the whole afternoon :D
Thanks again for looking everyone!

like everyone else is stating, sGu, you did quite well with the shutter speeds you were alotted. i missed the indoor tennis season here, but am going down to the indoor courts on campus in a week or two to shoot one of the ladies from the team practice. she approached me at a basketball game and asked. i will be pretty much expecting the same conditions you were left with there, but might try to rent a strobe setup for the day, we'll see though if i want to dive into those waters this early.

I wish strobe could be allowed, it'd definitely help in situations like this, but with tennis, they are really really strict about using flash photography, maybe because the ball is so small and less visible after getting blinded by flash?
Thanks for the positive comment, and show us more indoor low light action shots! :D

Good to see some tennis Gu... peachy stuff...
...but I'm starting to wonder when someone's going to come across a NICE and BRIGHT indoor venue!

hahaha, could you imagine...trying to return a tiny little yellowish green ball coming at you at around 80MPH with quick flashes of light that put european high beams to shame going off in your eyes. not my idea of a good time.
hopefully i can find a place where i can rent a whole wireless setup here in town because that would make the shots that much better as we dont see much indoor tennis shots with strobes...for the reason stated above.
and im on a break as far as shooting goes, all sports are winding down and i got nothin to shoot til the weekend when its playoff time....i can hardly wait. so in the mean time its high time i put together a nice lookin web gallery.
