so my friend bought a 17-35 f/2.8 off ebay, and did a comparsion with his 17-40 f/4 lens. he thinks it's not as sharp as the slower, newer lens - and may need to be calibrated by Canon.
anyone know of estimates for their services, or had similiar situation? thanks!

If you want to know how much Canon will charge for something wouldn't it be a good idea to ask them rather than asking people here? Seems like common sense to me.

is that like asking which lens is best?
