was the bokeh really that strong? for sme reason it makes me think you've done some nice selecting and gaussian blur on the background, cos the dof is deep in the front yet people that seem relatively close in the background are way gone?

Could just me being stupid tho ;)

Lemme do some self-critizism here:

1- That's the only shot I took of a great subject

2- It was the first time I used the"lens-blur" feature of PS...and I think I over-did it. (Only solution I could think of to a very busy background)

3- There are some little over exposed areas, mainly on the metallic objects....these I should have either toned down or emphasized the glint in PS...

I will try to find the same two guys next Sunday, bring them a bottle of guaro (local rum), and have them set that marimba on fire for me (so to speak ;) )...OR...I'll try to re-work the picture

This is what happens when you edit your pics at night after a couple of drinks.....

Thanks for your observations ;)

Freddy,

Here are my thoughs:

1- A really nice subject with vivid colors.
2- Too much PS...
3- The guy at the right needs more "air" above his head.
4- It'd be nice to see more "marimba" as well as the basket in front of it.
5- I see the faces a bit out-of-focus but I'm not sure if it's a result of the web posting.
6- Shoot it again if you can and shoot as many as you can. There are thousand different motifs there that deserve to be recorded by your light recorder. (for instance, the hands of the guy at the right holding the little hammers with that colorful shirt as background could be a different but interesting photo).
7- Thanks for sharing. ;)
