Believe it or not, I forgot I owned this lens. I'm sure I had some great plans for it, and couldn't live without it, but then it went into the bag, and really never got used. I came across it a few days ago and honestly was surprised for a while that I owned it. Since then, I remember when and where I bought it, but still don't have a clue as to why.

Regardless, I took it out to play the other day, and had it on my 20D. A train came along, and I did the most logical thing I could think of....I took a picture of it.

I was satisfied enough with the photo that it has caused me to re-think how I might do my locomotive 'portraits' in the future. Previously I've used my 100-400, or either the 300 or 400 prime. I really like this one as well as any I've done with the longer lenses, and in some respects might like it better. As stated in the other thread, the train was going about 60 mph. I'm a little bored tonight, so I thought I'd post it just for something to do.

I need a life.

I wish I looked in my bag and a "L" lens magically appeared.
Drisley lives by this lens, I think....................................

yeah, i have it too and forget just how lovely it was. i re-discovered its joy and creaminess 2 weeks ago in san francisco. i didn't forget about it in my bag (how on earth did you do that??), rather i've been taking the 85 1.8 around in my bag more often. but its supa-fast af and 'ouch, it's sharp' clarity beg for the lens to be used. baby, i'm sorry i haven't used you more - please forgive me. i promise to use you more. at least you were on the camera when i posted the picture of the flash bracket the other day

Belmondo, forgetting and even more so, not using the lens while ownin it is a sin. A very bad one. You don't deserve the halo.

:D

Belmondo,

how in earth could you forget that I lent you that lens a year ago
That's not a nice thing to do ... however, I forgive you, if you send it back soon ...

Best regards,
Andy

Wouldn't that halo look cool in the "135L red" shade? :D

I reached the point of having more lens than I could handle waaaaay back when I bought the 28-135 (my first). I probably should've started (and stopped) with the 50 f/1.8.

I actually have a couple lenses I really should reacquaint myself with. I might just decide I don't need them after all, and that would allow me to free up some money for...for....ummmmmm. What was I saying?

Does anyone dare ask Tom to list all the lenses he has/had? :-P
I would, but I don't wanna make him type for half a day.

Nah. I made the list for insurance purposes, but never referred back to it again. There are some things I'm better off not knowing....like how much I've spent on photography in the last couple years.

Besides, Larry Ellison already has enough money. He doesn't need more by selling me his software.
