Speaking of G10 camera bags...

I saw some pictures recently of the classic leather styled camera cases for the G10 where there's a bottom half and a top half that goes over it like the old rangefinder cases. Didn't see it on Canons website - though the images I saw had their logo. Any idea where I can pick one up? I'm pretty sure I'm not talking about the PSC-5100.

That's the SC-DC60...the SC-DC55 (actually SC-DC55A) was available on eBay from sellers on Japan. Those cases aren't on the American market, and they're not cheap, I paid about $75 for the one for the G9, and now that I'm getting the G10, I'm hoping the case for that camera is available soon. I would keep checking eBay periodically. They're still selling the SC-DC55A, bidding aroung $60 right now.

Off-topic a bit, but can anyone tell me what the rings (http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/cda/static/image/2008/09/17/canon3_07l.jpg) are on that site (next to the cases)? Are they just colored rings to make the camera more personalized?

I sure wish they were, though. I'd really rather have the brown, but the only color that had been available on eBay for the G9 was black...

Yes, those rings give you the ability to change the color. They've been available since the G7 came out. Hard to find, although I sometimes see them on eBay.

I would get a set if they had a ring with a red stripe -- to mimick the red stripe on the L lenses, of course!

I finally received my G10 today, and I love it! Now I'm waiting for the SC-DC60 case to show up on eBay. I hope there are more choices than just black this time (I'd love to get the brown one, too!) But if I can have any color I want as long as it's black, then I'll take it!

Does anyone remember how long it took after the G9 was released before the SC-DC55 cases for that camera began showing up on eBay? I just posted a "Want It Now" listing for the SC-DC60 case for the G10. I miss that case from my G9!

FYI - I'm 90% sure this is the same shop I bought my SC55 cases from and he was very fast to ship and only dealt in the OEM products. I shot him an email asking for another, so we'll see if he has anymore avail (wife's cam needs one...still doesn't share well) shortly.

Does your case have the burgundy-colored interior, and is the cutout on the front straight, rather than curving around the lense (the way the G9 case was)?

Yes on both. Its burgundy inside and a square cutout in the front.

What about the burgundy and yellow leather cases shown in Japan...how do we get them in the so called Western world...or in our instance "Down Under".???!.....Those colors I saw from one of the links in POTN absolutely Rock!!...Shame we are bottom of the world as its damn hard here to any great accessories that are actually stylish!!.

Looks very nice but for $75 seems a bit expensive. More importantly, I am pretty sure
it could no longer fit in a pocket for daily trips. (Major downer for me)
If I'd want something to pack for a longer trip, any $15 neoprene bag from Ritz Camera or Walmart
will do (and it will carry also a charger, extra battery and cards)

Thanks for posting that...now we know WHY they're so expensive, because they're making only a limited number. I guess now that I know they cost so much, I'll stick with the black. But the pictures confirm that the cut on the front is square rather than rounded, so at least we know there's only the one "style".

Just as a FWIW I was looking for a small bag that maybe could be worn on the belt for my new G10 after looking all through Best Buy and Circuit City
I found at CC a Tamrac T92 which seems well padded and will hold the G10
and in the front a SD Card and a lens cloth maybe.

Also while they didn't have dedicated LCD protectors for the G10 they had them for the Nintendo DS and they fit perfectly. You get two in a pack.
Hope this is of some help to some one.
