I just got Adobe PhotoShop Elements about a month ago. I am not having any trouble getting what I want out of the program execpt when it comes to, burning files to CD. I want to be able to mix and match shots that I want to copy. It seems to want to copy all or only 1 pic at a time. Any sugesstions ? BE

Hope this doesn't sound like a cop-out or disloyalty to this forum -- it's great -- but there is an Adobe Elements Forum where they deal with this subject in great detail all the time.

Hold down the shift key or control key ( I forget which - try and you'll see) as you select the pictures you want to burn to CD. One of those keys will select picture by picture and the other will select a whole block of pictures. That should solve your problem. By this you are not doing a backup but just Burn CD.

Good luck.

Thanks for telling me about the web site Jim. I just searched it a little and I am going to read some more. To Barry I have held the shift key down and selected pictures but when I select some it only takes them in groups. I cant skip pictures that I dont want in the group that I want to copy. What I finaly did is move all the pictures I wanted over to a file in my Win documents. But some of the pictures in the file will only open in adobe. So I am wondering if I take the disk with the pictures on it somewhere like wallmart to get printed will there machine be able to open the files?
I am wondering why this isnt easyer? ,and are there flaws in the program? Thanks for any help. BE

Here's how Windows works..

Use shift to select a block of pictures.
(click once on first file, hold shift and click on the last file)
They are all selected now.

Use Control to selectively pick files
(click on Pic #1, Hold down shift [don't let go], click on Pic#3, then let go)
Only the pics you have clicked on are selected

Get creative!

If you want pics 1-20 except #'s 4 and 6; then click on picture #1, hold down shift and click on picture #20. Let go of the shift key and all 20 pictures are dark (selected). Now hold down control and click on pictures #4 and 6. Now you should have only your desired pictures selected.

If this doesn't answer your question; please let me know..

Good!

I think it's one of thse things that you either learned 10 years ago; or you never did.

I can imagine how frustrating working with pictures would be if you didn't know about this little trick. I'd almost not try to fix a lot of the files I do if I couldn't do it this way...
