These are some of my shots from today. They are large sized flickr files. I can post the links to any of them full sized if you'd like but I figured large was good enough. They are jpegs straight from the camera: no post processing at all even for exposure.
First the shots from the store:

As you can see, ISO 80, 100, and 200 are all really clean. ISO 400 is still quite clean with barely perceptable noise. ISO 800 does have perceptable noise, but it's really low in my opinion for this type of camera. I had no qualms whatsoever shooting at ISO 800. None. The best part is that the noise you do see is more of a film type grain than digital style noise. And I can only see luminance noise. I don't think I see hardly any if any at all color noise.
Let me know what you think. I know I'm impressed. Especially for a 14mp point and shoot!

Thanks for those examples. I am still dismayed at the amount of noise from the new Digic processor, but it looks better than the G9. How is focus speed and time between shots? Does it seem quicker than the G9?

Dismayed? For a camera with a sensor so small with a megapixel count so high I'm surprised it isn't worse by a significant margin.
Psykon, could you post the full res images or 100% crops?

Definately faster. Pretty impressed for a p&s.

Do you have a preference for which images? There's alot. I probably should have just done full sized off the get go. Also, you can check out my flickr at http://flickr.com/photos/psykon99. Ignore the first few. They're similar but processed files.

Thanks for the samples... Looks like I'll be keeping my Lumix LX3....

Those look pretty good, I'd be interested in a similar test with the G10 if you could psykon99

Thanks for those pictures.
This goes to show that, as with most things in life, things are not absolute! :)
I see the ISO 800 and 1600 from the OP as excellent noise-wise pictures, and I sure hopped the Pro1's ISO 200 were like those 1600! With a little help from noise-reduction software (I use NeatImage) those pictures could be used in any situation with excellent results.
On the other hand I find that the Lumix examples posted later have a stronger chromatic noise and I much rather have the G10s ISO1600 than the Lumix ISO1600.
Thanks again for sharing,
Rafa.

I would like to see pictures that were shot in low light from the G10. Just like the LX3 pics. I think it would be a better test to shoot high ISO in a dimly lit room vs. a well lit room

I'll work on posting some samples later tonight. I did notice the dimly lit room noise to be a little higher on the LCD, but then I deleted the images rather than uploading them. Accidentally deleted all the RAWs from yesterdays pics too. Bummer.

i actually took the low light pictures on purpose....
@ ISO 800 the images of the lumix LX3 (outdoor images) looks GREAt, little to no noise... i till test it out @ lunch and post....
Since these 2 camera are going head to head might as well compare the quality of the images.... i will go to 34th street for lunch and snap a few shots with different ISO's.

Ok, I took some low light high ISO shots.
These are at ISO 1600 with just light coming in from a window under overcast sky. They appear brighter than the scene was because Canon's meter always likes to brighten dark scenes.
BTW, these are full res links so they may take awhile to load...

By the way, iContrast was set to auto. It does not work in RAW mode. Forgot to turn it off.

Thanks again for the low light shots! Pretty noisy, but better than expected in contrast to the G9. I am going to pick one of these cameras up tomorrow if I can find someone local with it in stock.
