I’m looking at these two lenses. One is Sigma and the other a Canon. Both are 70-200 but one is a f/2.8 and the other is a f/4.
Canon:

Sigma:

If what I have learned is true then the f/2.8 would be better for my in-door sports shots. So my first question is between these two lenses, will I regret buying the Sigma because the quality is not as good? Does anyone know of another site which might compare the two?

The comparable 70-200 f/2.8 L lens from Canon is $340.00 more (I could be saving for the EF 50mm f/1.4 I also would like). Should I put off the decision for a couple of months (or a year) to get the L?

actually if you check here the price difference is greater than at B&H.

Their rating seems to be ok.

If it was my choice I would be getting the f2.8.

The Sigma has a good rep. The Canon has a better one.

I dare say the canon 2.8L will hold its value better, but is it that much better than the sigma 2.8? probably not for your intended use.

I think if you don't plan on shooting at 2.8 all the time and you do want to carry it around all the time, then the 70 - 200 f4 would be the best choice.

However, you will find it hard to try shooting f/2.8 some of the time, if you go for the f/4 lens

I have the Sigma... it's a great lens. I shoot a lot of indoor sports w/o flash. I always shoot wide open at 2.8. No regrets!! Latest samples are at:
