I'm not a huge fan of the long tight crop, there's really nothing to focus on and the tonal range is all about the same. I like the other picture because you can better see the grain in the wood which adds more intrest, but that's just my opinion.

The other one you are linking to is the original version of it, I get the feeling that it is a bit cold, but maybe that how it should be when it is taken a cold October day.
