I'm making arrangements to travel up to NYC for the PhotoPlus Expo at the end of this month and wanted to know what are some good places to shoot for the nightlife scene. I shoot quite a bit of nightlife/entertainment stuff in Raleigh, but I really want to shoot in some crazy and far out clubs (I'm really into techno and break beats, places with breakin'). What are some good nightlife magazines in the NYC to look at.

Also, any other cool night locations to shoot (like time square and such)?

Just walk around the village shooting pictures during the evening. Or hit Time Square at night, right after the evening rush. Southside Seaport is great all day long and really neat to shoot during the night. Just a few ideas that aren't really club related. If you get a foggy night start shooting up the sides of Skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building, or the Empire State. Trumps building are Black so they aren't worthy of a night shot. But you might want to shoot photos near the UN at dusk.

Finally, if you can get access to some of the Rooftop Restaurants with large glass windows you will have a photographers paradise. I like using the Balcony of the Beekman Towers near the UN. Also, the balcony outside of the Bentley Hotel just west of Dangerfields Comedy Nightclub is a nice place to shoot from. Have a Great Trip!!!

Time square when it gets dark is great.
Rockefeller Center.
Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge for some classic shots.
