Can anyone explain the advantages / disadvantages of these types of bodies specifically with respect to concert photography?

well my 5D performs better @ high ISO as compared to my 30D. and for small clubs, not having the crop reach makes things easier.
however, they are more expensive (body and lenses).

I found that for the venues I shoot in 24-70mm is a tad bit long on 1.6x - it's perfect on 1.3x. Just wide enough on the wide end and long enough on the long end for a versatile zoom.
The venues you shoot in will make a huge difference. If it's cramped pubs FF will likely be an advantage whereas if it's bigger venues the extra length a cropped body affords may be to your liking.

All other things equal, a FF body will have less noise.
However, all things are not equal, so that point only goes so far ;)
On a crop body, you have more DoF for a given field of view (so different lens on both camera's). This can be good or bad, depending on personal preference.
It's easier (read: possible) to find a fast, wide lens for a FF.
You get a bit more reach with a crop body. (depending on which camera's you compare)
Crop camera + lenses is lighter then a FF setup covering the same FoV.
