Let see what everyone is looking for this year.

Personally. I wish Canon would stop making all them Zoom lens, and get more prime lens out.

So a few Prime lens would be great. Hopefully at least one L.

No way!they allready have all the primes they need ;)

I'll be a little amazed if they don't release an update to the 300D..

What I'd like to see is a range of lenses (zooms and primes) that fit in between the L's and the budget range. Canon are obviously aware that they're missing out on a lot of sales to Tamron, Sigma and Tokina in the $$ vs performance stakes and would have to realise that that they're are a lot of hobbyists and amateurs that can't afford the L price range. Also, not everyone wants to have a white lens just because they want more quality. Whilst I'm not expecting anything in the near future, it would be nice.

Just my $0.02

Agreed about the 300D, but ...

You do not want *any* Canon primes upgraded (35/2, 50/1.4, 28/1.8, 400/5.6 etc.)?

You could knock me over with a feather if the 350D isn't release, since I have specs and pictures that are just too good to be fake, and came from a reliable source.

I think the Drebel replacement is the most logical, although I could see a certain logic in holding its intro until August. Not likely, but...

What would floor me is if we don't see some new lenses. I am very interested at the extreme ends - an 'L' ultra-wide zoom for the 1.6 cameras, and a long zoom out around 500mm.

Today looks like Nikon's Pre-PMA day with a bunch of P&S intros and an upgraded D2Hs. I guess Canon is waiting for the show itself.

I don't know if anything like this is being considered, but I'd love to see a new EF 400 f/5.6L with Image Stabilization. The old non-IS version is already one of Canon's most popular lenses, but it's slow. They've already added IS to the 300 f/4.0, so why not the 400? That would be a 'must have' lens for me. I think it would be wildily popular with birders.

I would like to see cheaper DO zooms - the current 70-300 is WAY overpriced ! The idea of such a small, light and quite long zoom lens is very appealing, but the price is very well out of what I want to spend on such a lens.

Well, the EF-S 10-22mm is already there, it isn't officially an L lens, but it's definitely a high-end EF-S lens and it does have a Super UD element like L lenses have and it's actually a very good and sharp lens. See the review on Luminous Landscape (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/Canon-10-22mm-test.shtml) - the Canon 10-22 is MUCH better than the Sigma 12-24, for example.

About the original question: I think that there's a very big chance that there's going to be a 300D / Digital Rebel replacement. I wouldn't be disappointed if there wasn't (I'd not be buying it anyway), but I would be surprised.

I would also be very interested in a 400/5.6 IS

How about a revised 50/1.4L? I think that would also attract a lot of buying interest for people wanting a better lens than the /1.8 and current /1.4

And competing with Sigma for the wide angle prime market for the 1.6 multiplier DSLRs? I think a lightweight 20/2 for reduced image circle would attract lots of people who currently choose Sigma's large 20/1.8

Good point on zooms between the consumer zooms and L's
IS versions of the 400/5.6 and 70-200/4L REALLY make sense but i wonder how much that would jack up the price of the 70-200/4?
I suspect i would change my mind about wanting one at the price it's likely to be.

Isn't it amazing how jaded we can become because of the color of the ring at the front of the lens? :o

I have tried out the EF-S 10-22 in a store, and I was not displeased with it, but I guess I am hoping for something in the f2.8 range. If Canon sticks with the EF-S 10-22 I may pull the trigger on it, but we will see what else they come up with at PMA.

Let see what everyone is looking for this year.

I want Canon to release a 1Ds MK III with 50 megapixel, 2000 photo buffer for raw and jpeg, ISO 6400 with noise level same as current ISO 100. Wireless broadband connection for instant transmission back to ftp server, batterylife time should be minimum 10.000 photos. And a 5-2000 mm f1 IS L zoom no bigger than a 70-200 mm f4L. Both items should weigh less than 1kg combined. Cost $500 each.

I will be really disappointed if those items are not released.....

I'd settle for ISO 3200 if I were you - aren't you reaching a little bit?

I personally don't have a zoom at ultra-wide angle, but a L lens of this sort would be great. like a 9mm-17mm f/2 or f/2.8 L
