Tell us about your first nude shoot

That wasn't a girlfriend or wife.

I was in college and making portraits and glamour shots. I had a camera all the time and occasionally shot girls around campus at things like events, concerts, etc. I also did a lot of crowd images, etc.

Anyway, an absolutely gorgeous girl I knew from several classes asked me to take some pictures of her for her boyfriend. I asked her what she wanted, assuming portraits and maybe bikini. She suggested that and some lingerie as well.

She came to my room and I shot her with my AE-1 Program and a 50 1.8 and some Kodak color print film. We did a few shots with cute outfits and then switched to bikini (she changed in the bathroom). Before long she was in some sexy lingerie and I was on my way to taking glamour pictures of strangers. We did a few shots in the lingerie and I asked her if she wanted to do some nudes. She did.

I was about 19 and she was drop dead gorgeous. My heart nearly stopped.

We spent about another hour shooting my first nudes with someone I wasn't dating. Actually, it was only like the 3rd time I was shooting nudes period and the first two didn't really seem to count.

Most of the images were very cliche. At the time they seemed great to me and to everyone who saw them. She loved them as did her boyfriend. And so did my friends. It was my first TF assignment and gave me the courage to approach other attractive girls and ask them to model.

Inspiring story Charles. I have to say the first time I shot any nudes other than the wifey would have been at your studio. Still cant get my butt in gear to go forward with it other than the wife right now but hopefully soon I will get moving along with it. Still not completely comfortable with my lighting and each time I work with the wife I try to try something new with the light. I guess I am still trying to find my style. Your work as always tends to be my inspiration as well as others on this forum.

It was very cold out...and there was shrinkage. Oh, you mean me shooting?:p

First was with my GF, (oh that don't count, nevermind) we made out during which was a bad idea. Fixing smudged lipstick in PS is harder than it looks.

I shot 36 exposures on the leader and she never believed that I hadn't just gotten her naked for a perverted peek. She WAS half right but I fully intended to take pictures.

Well I would have to say that I felt very awkward at first especially since it was a model whose work I was really impressed by. But the fact that she was very professional about everything helped to calm my nerves a little. I still felt very nervous giving direction but I think I am getting better at getting what I am looking for from the wife. Will just have to see when I finally start working with others. Was a good first step I just need to take more. It just sux that I couldnt get my wife to take here clothes off for me to take pictures and she shows up at your place drops trou and you guys go to work (J/K). I am just glad that she and I got to work with you as it has done wonders for both of us.

wouldn't call it a shoot, but it was 1989..I was in the Air Force and stationed in Korea. I had an old Pentax 35mm then. There was this Korean girl that danced in one of the clubs. We were in her room one night and I had brought my camera. I snapped a few pics. Mostly topless. They sucked....don't knwo what happened to them. I probably gave them to her like a dummy...

You have no idea how much it sux. Shipment of shoes arrived today and we went shopping at Hustler Hollywood again tonight for a dress. Plus all the long ass trips the NC to see you. Man its taking its toll. ;) Not to mention all the money I have spent on camera/studio gear.

HAHA this is EXACTLy how my first nude shoot went! She was a friend of a friend... and they had driven several hours to stay at my place for the weekend. We were shooting away, and I really think we'd have had some great stuff... and my AE-1 got to exposure 35... 36... 37?!.... 38?!?!?!?!!!!??!!! WTF

aaaand... Never captured a single image! :o

We've become pretty good friends since, and did do a reshoot... but she still gives me hell about it to this day! haha

My first nude model was a friend of my wife's. This was back to 1980, and I had been into photography for just a year or two. This lady was selling lingerie via home sale parties and she wanted some photos of the different items on a model, so she and my wife modeled the lingerie and I put together a portfolio for her to use at the parties.

She liked the images so much, that she wanted me to do a nude shoot for her. She probably posed for me 3 or 4 more times and I used the images to put together my own portfolio.

Two cage dancers trained in the gym I worked in and they knew I did a bit of photography. They asked if I could do some shots of them on the equipment after the club closed to help build their modelling portfolios. They also asked that we use the pool and jacuzzi area. nervous? Hell yes, but everyone was happy with the results. Looking back, the shots weren't that creative lighting-wise, but it was good experience for everyone.
It nearly backfired, though, as they told a couple of staff and one of my 'problem' staff reported it to my head office, although he had no proof and the girls denied it.

That really depends on the kind of look you're after. I guess there must be some nice beaches in SA? or maybe you could ask the models if one of them has a flat/ house you could use? This will have the added bonus of being warm, have a variety of different settings (kitchen/ lounge/ bedroom/ shower etc.) as well as being easier for the models to relax, especially if one is new to it. I find this option works very well with new models as it's obviously a bit nerve-wracking standing naked in front of a camera for the first time and this allows them a sense of control as it's on their 'territory'. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I paid a model so I could add this to my portfolio. I got one great shot, really great. If I had only know that in 2 weeks I'd have models lining up to do if for TF*. Model networking sites are great. Well some are.

So how did you keep the rain out??

My first was in Highschool and at a photographers studio I hung out at. This chick came in and wanted some shots done for a magazine my buddy told me it was a freebie and he was busy and asked me if I wanted to do it...

You could hear a pin drop, I stuttered something unintelligable and she shed the threads and put on her robe to get makeup started.

I set up a few lights on a grey BG with a chair and that was it. She told me exactly what she wanted and this was not art in any sense. Five rolls of tri-x later we were finsihed. She took the film gave me a kiss and split. I never saw the girl, the negs or the shots... until my buddy showed me other images of her from a place in San Francisco. I will never forget her name it was "Del".

I was the new cashier and she was the produce lead. She came through my line one day and I asked how she was doing, find everything ok...etc etc. All that stupid sh*t cashiers are trained to say.

Well, the following week in the break room I was on lunch and she was doing something with price changes, I dont remember.

She was sitting there with another co-worker from the produce department and was teasing him about his hair, or something. I could tell it was frustrating him so to document the moment for a later razzing I snapped them two with my camera phone.

I guess she thought I was shooting JUST her. So from then on the comment about my camera phone kept being discussed. "No camera phone today?hehehe":rolleyes:

My brother started working there months before I did, so he spread the word around about my photography.

Eventually the talk got back around to the produce lead lady, and wanted some taken as well.

When I asked what kind, glamour, regular portrait, etc etc she mentioned some partial nudity, but also made it clear she was nervous.

So I told her about implied nudity, she can be covered up in the right spots but still appear to have nothing on. She was down so we set the day.

We couldnt do it at my place, family was in out of town, couldnt at her place because she had family living with her, so off to a cheap ass motel. First one we set up wouldnt allow her to rent a room, they accused her of being a prostitute.LMAO

So to a hotel we went. She had a bottle of vodka, probably 20oz or less in it, and she guzzled it all.

After she calmed down I had my lights set up and started shooting.

After I was finished, I left. The next day I gave her a copy of the images and before the weeks end nearly all the guy in the store had seen them.lol.

Odd thing was appearantly she was emotionally unstable and thought that me taking her photos was some kind of sign of a relationship. I could even safely say she wanted to marry me. She pretty much didnt stop stalking me until she met her now husband on WORLD of WARCRAFT:|:rolleyes: and moved to s. carolina

In 1998 when I joined the military I got stationed in Point Mugu in Camarillo. It was for a porn website but I never actually saw the guy's ;). Strategic placement of props and stuff like that. It was awesome and I had a blast. Not something I am running out to do again at all LOL.

My first nude shoot I kinda fell into and was really my first "professional" gig. I was big into the custom car and truck scene and was doing personal photos when the editor of Street Source Magazine saw some of my work and offered to have me do some shoots. He made the comment half jokingly that if I could pull off full nude shoot with a hot ride I would make cover. I figured well hell, what do I have to loose?! So I made a few calls and found the right car and the owner happened to know a pretty good looking girl that was willing to do it. We set up the shoot during a car show in 100+ degree weather. We had to buy a bag of ice and keep rubbing down the metal on the car wherever she was leaning against to keep it from burning her! But the girl was a trooper and the shots turned out pretty good(especially for my first time working with a model ever!) and I got my first cover!
