You are thissss close.

The first is very evocative however there's just enough missing detail in the shadows to compromise the overall image. The monitor I'm using right now may be the problem however.

In the second, those --what? droplets?-- detracts from what would have been an outstanding image. IMHO. I can see how others might view the droplets as a positive though.

it's hard to see it. It's the black one licking his paw in the lower left-hand corner. LOL

Maybe bryan was merely referring to the fact that he was in the alley taking the photo.

I don't see an alley or a cat... maybe a parking garage or hallway perhaps... I do appreciate anyone who will lie on their belly to take a pic though...
Where were the droplets on the 2nd - on your lens filter?

I cant make out much on #1. may be my monitor is dying :-( I dont want to beleive its my eyes :-(
