Actually it's more a question about the focus scale on a 24-70mm f2.8L.

I have visited the hyperfocal calculator pages, and believe the CoC for a 10D is 0.019. With that CoC, focal length of 24mm and fstop 11, the hyperfocal is 9.0ft. I know that everything from 4.5ft to infinity should be sharp.

Here's a picture of the scale in question:

Question is, with the focal length set to 24mm, do I lineup the big white line with ~9ft, or the little red line marked 24mm? If I use the white line, what are the little red lines marked with the different focal lengths for?

Thanks for helping with such a newbie question.

PS It's tough to take a picture of a lense when you only have one. :)

You should use the white line.

The red lines with the different focal lengths are the IR focusing points for the respective focal lengths.

Thank you. I had pretty much figured out to use the white line, but I sure couldn't figure out what the red was for. Thanks again..
