So, with a certain ammount of money, I can buy 4 AA batteries rated at 2700 or I could pay a bit more and buy 8 AA's rated at 2000 . Which do you think it's a better investment ?

well gee, 2700 vs 4000, wonder which one's bigger?
it comes down to whether you want to swap or not.

I would go the the higher rated mAh. If you're shooting a big event, they'll last longer before having to be replaced. I use batteries rated at 2500 mAh in my speed lights. If I use a LOT of flash, I still only need to replace the batteries once throughout the night at an all day wedding.

Well, obviously the higher the number the longer they'd last, what I'm asking is the about the price/performance ratio.

you have that already... $ are the price, mAh is the performance.
so what's the ratio?

... again, it all comes down to whether you want to swap 35% sooner, knowing that you'll have 67% more power if you do.

DId I really just have to write all that out?

($ / mAH ) = price / performance. (mAH / $) = performance/dollar. You have the numbers for where you want to buy, we don't.

If you need 3000 mAH, the first choice is a non-choice!

And it depend on the brand some 2700mAH are not really what they say for instance I would chose eneloop 2000mAH over energizer 2500mAH any day
