This shot is from this weekend. I remember while I was shooting it, "when is the whistle gonna blow?". They (the zebras) never called the foul.

Great shot Gramps! What were your settings, and how much post processing do you do with a shot like this----or does it come out of the can like that?

Yes it was the "85"........great chunk of glass. The settings.......ISO was 800; f1.8 & 1/500th. A bit of tweaking was done, that end of the gym has a lot of shadows. I have been geting a bit of green tinge in the skin tones (I think it from the floor) so I add magenta. That's the beauty of shooting RAW. It turned into a 36 X 24 poster!!!!!

I seem to have trouble getting ISO 800 shooting the 85 wide open with an acceptable shutter speed. Even at ISO 1600 the shutter speed is around max 250 to get the exposure meter in the middle. Wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Is the quality much better at 800 vs 1600 in terms of noise?

The noise difference between 800 & 1600 is almost nil. If I think there is too much noise I use (free) Noiseware Community edition.
