I'm booked to shoot a wedding oct 25. The ceremony is indoors at 1600hrs. The B&G want outdoor shots for the bridal party starting at about 1700hrs.

I'm concerned that it may be getting a little on the dark side to keep my aperature and shutter speeds appropriate. I have a canon ex580, but I'm not going to have great shots if I have to use that as the main light. I plan on using my tripod to help avoid camera shake at slower speeds. I think the light will be fine at the start, but I'm guessing we'll be racing against the sun.

Any suggestions?

You should be fine one hour before sunset with your 85mm (and possibly even your 24-70) That's my favorite time of day to shoot, especially people.

Why not go out now ~1 hour before sunset and see what the light is like? Bring a buddy and take some test shots.

No problem, the best time of day to take photos is the hour before sunset, and 15-30 minutes after sunset.

Thank Tim,

I took my family out and took some pictures at the approximate time and the lighting was excellent. There shouldn't be much difference in a couple of weeeks.

Happy to have helped. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best :)
