I am looking at finially getting a telephoto lens for my G9.
i do take quite a few pictures of cars at the race track when i am there and not racing. I have found the standard optical zoom just does cut it when maxed. I try and get a close-up shot and often have to take picture from 100-200meter some times. digital zoom just kills it as everyone knows.

i have been looking at the Raynox DCR-1540PRO and DCR-2025.
Not sure on which too get and whether the 2025 would be overkill.

are their others that people could point out to be good?

I have the Canon TC-DC58C, and find it does an excellent job. Others have also recommended it. However, Raynox also has a good reputation, so it's pretty much what you want in extended reach and price.

Here's a link to a pro's blog on the G9. He states that all of his external lenses are Raynox brand.

I have my TC-DC58C for sale. I got rid of my G9 to upgrade to an XSi and have this left over.
