How long did it take for those of you that sent in the rebates to get th back? I mailed the stuff on about two weeks ago and when I got to the website to check the status on it it doesn't even show that the have recieved it in the mail yet. Is this typical or is there a chance that it got lost in the mail?

I sent mine in late January and only today does it show that they finally received it. I was getting worried too. I'd wait a few more days and check again.

I believe it took about 4 weeks for it to register on the site. Unfortunately for me, they said I had a "bad" UPC, in this case it was the photocopy of the EOS 20D. I called and got a real person (a pretty friendly guy who could actually see all the info on my claim, probably on his screen) to look into it and we established they'd mis-read the UPC and of course could find no product associated with it. Then they said I didn't send any cardboard logo cutouts in. Even if you did everything right you may be disappointed. Now the site says I'm going to be notified of my "non-compliance". This letter is "pending" even though they have a "re-submit by 4/01/05" date. I've already re-sent them the photo of the EOS 20D UPC with a letter explaining transposition of a number. I also sent in more logos (luckily the logo is on the box about 4 times, so I'm not out of logos yet).

I'll eventually get my rebate, I'm pretty sure, but I've learned my lesson and will avoid them in the future. I think we tend to see them most heavily around Christmas so just waiting another 4-6 weeks probably means you can get the "rebate" in reduced prices. Check it out and see if it's not true. See if the price you would pay in 2 months isn't lower by the amount of the rebate.....

I normally try to avoid rebates but this one was to large and well timed to pass up. I sent mine in on the 2nd of feb. On the 12th I get it back, unopened, with Delivery Refused stamps all over it. The post office had no clue. It had correct postage, correct address and everything. I repackaged it and sent it back in again. Makes me highly wary though.

Q.
How do I check the status of my submission?

A.
You can check the status of Canon rebates mailed to Mesa, Arizona by visiting us at www.web-rebates.com/canon. If you prefer to check the status of your rebate by phone, call the Canon USA rebate center toll free at (877) 862-6870 weekdays, 7 am to 9 pm MST.

Sent mine in mid-Jan. after on-line pre-qual. They hadn't posted it as of 2 weeks ago, but they now show they're waiting to write the check.

I got my rebate check two weeks ago, minus one $20 rebate. They said I was missing one Warranty card. Like others, I know I sent all the warranty cards. They didn't say which one was missing, so I just photocopied all of them again and sent it in. So, hopefully, the final $20 will be here soon.

I just called them, and the lady on the phone said that she'll take care of it. Unless I am contacted by the letter or "card". There shouldn't be any problem with it.

My rebate submission took about 6 weeks just to show as "received" on the website. That was two days ago and today I see they have approved the total $420! Kind of nerve-wracking to have that much riding on a rather sleazey process.

Mailed my rebate in at the beginning of Jan. As others have said it took about three weeks to acknowledge they received it. Then few more weeks to process the rebates. Just two days ago my check was approved and will be mailed soon.

It was kinda nerve racking as I tripled checked and spent couple three hours with all that was needed for the rebates and made backups of backups of files incase I messed up.

My rebates totaled $495.00 so it's no small amount. With all said and done I got the Digital Rebel for $479.00. And about $200 off the 17-40L, 70-200Lf4 and 50 1.4.

Was a good deal and don't feel bad about the new Rebel XT.

I have found that it is a very good idea to make a copy of everything that I send in for each and every rebate (and make a note of the date I sent the forms in) . Then if I haven't received the rebate in 6 weeks, I call (or e-mail)to see what the status is. If they say I didn't include a certain required part, such as a UPC code, I just tell them I have a copy of all the information that I sent in, and ask if they want me to send a copy. Then mysteriously, they usually say...oh yes, here is the "missing" part...we will send your rebate right out. I am referring to rebates in general...not specifically Canon.

I had copied two warranty cards onto the same page of paper. It will be interesting if they come back and say one warranty copy is missing......

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that you have to cut up the original box to send in the logos. I really wish this wasn't necessary as I prefer to keep everything in its original condition including boxes.

Thanks guys, I'm glad to know that it's not just my rebate thats taking so long. I wish they where a little faster in proccessing them though. I was starting to think that maybe I made a mistake in the in the address or the post office had lost it or something.

Mailed my rebates in last May. Yes last MAY!!! Have had many conversations over the phone and by e-mail with Canon. It is agreed that I am entitled to the $90. Yet I still have not received a check.   It's been 10 freaking months already.

I just checked on my rebate on the site provided (thanks, BTW) and the check has been approved ($480) and should be on the way soon... Can't wait for that 580EX Flash so I can have it for primary and my 550EX as secondary...

I just got off the phone with the Canon Rebate Center. I was notified of non-compliance (not sending in cardboard logos of products, which I did) and having a bogus UPC. I decided I could send in another set of logos but the UPC thing I wanted resolved. I carefully explained to the person that I photocopied the end of my EOS 20D box with the bar codes and UPC and logo and that if I can google it and get Canon EOS 20D then why are they having trouble acknowledging it's a valid UPC. It took about 15 minutes but I finally got them to agree to make a notation that the UPC was good and would not be part of the re-submit. I think she had to get a supervisor to OK it. What's so crazy is that the serial # of the camera is right above the UPC and it's on the US Warranty (a copy of which I sent in) and it's on the B&H Video Invoice that has my name and address on it, and they're all the same. I guess it's possible to fake all this but really......

Possibly complaining via phone is a good thing. My rebate now shows approved for the full amounts. Whether it's the fact they received the re-submission of my logos and UPC copies or the phone calls and supervisor intervention worked, who knows. Just thought I'd be fair and post the good news.
