Finaly got my 100mm macro :D Took these two shots to try it out.

Comppression didn't do this one any justice.

What do you think?

The first one looks like it needed more aperature to keep more of the rose in focas....what were you shooting at. Second pic is perfect. Very well done. I have this lens and if I could suggest anything it would be not shoot at f/2.8 if possible......I find most macro work is great at f/4.0 with that lens.....and if I need a more seperated background I just photoshop it.

The second shot is really nice. I think it's better than "allright".

Good shots, I agree on the first one about the focus, but it really isn't that bad and I think the deep red makes up for it. Did you try applying sharpen to it or maybe a little USM to it, to punch it up a little more.

Thanks John and Mark :D
I don't no what happened to the rose. I tried a bunch of different things but it didn't work. Sharpening, f stops, etc. the only thing I could think of is compression. On my computer the originals look great. Mybe not enough contrast in the red
