I've just received a new Ixus 40 and I've found a couple of problems. The first is a hot pixel (bright blue) on the LCD. I'm sure I can get the supplier to change the camera for this problem.
However I notice that the zoom makes a grinding noise when you stop zooming - is this normal?

Can't comment much about the hot pixel. But the grinding sound is Normal.:) When I first got the camera, was asking the same question too. Seems like all/most Ixus 40 got this sound. So, should not worry about it. Hope this helps.

Thanks roadrider - I bought the camera online so didn't get a chance to confirm that it sounded right. Disappointed by hot pixel though - it's the second Canon product I've bought this year to come with a problem!

I have an Ixus 40 (SD300) and when I stop zooming, it makes normal servo motor sounds. Not really what I would describe as grinding.
