I don't know about immature. It looks like the full-grown cormorants we have around here.

Thamks all. I believe that what they call them. I never knew really. There are quire a lot along the Fraser River. You can see them usually with their wings spread. I don't know why. Maybe to attract heat from the sun for warmth?

We have a bird called anhinga, related to the cormorant. They both swim underwater to spear fish, so their feathers lack the oils most birds have to repel water and make them float. After swimming, the anhinga (and cormorant, I believe) must spread its wings to dry before it can fly. I really can't tell an anhinga from a cormorant, but I'll bet Bob can.

Nice shot,. I love the pilons too.

Definately a Cormorant,. anhingas have much longer necks,. sharper beaks, and big fan tails,. Plus,. there southern,. Conk is northern :)
