I bought the A470, and at the moment I want to transfer one image from my computer to the camera. Currently I am unable to add or transfer images by going through windows explorer
When I click My Computer, then the camera, it comes up with a window showing thumbnails of the images but nothing else, no file names or details. If I try and drag something in theyr my cursor turns to the circle with a line through it.
Please help, I want to be able to use my camera through windows explorer.
Thanks in advance.

you want to put a picture on the camera? Well if it doesn't work plugged in directly, you could get a sd card reader and try to transfer it that way

I'm not looking for a workaround, I know loads of ways to access the camera but for my convenience I want to be able to use Windows Explorer.

The only way to transfer a picture directly from your computer to your camera is with Canon's Zoom Browser, which will put the photo in the proper place and format for you to later see it on the camera. Moving a picture onto the camera isn't simply a matter of placing the file somewhere on the card; it has to be an appropriate size and in the correct directory or you won't be able to view it. Windows Explorer doesn't understand those little details. And the camera isn't presented to Windows as a file system, but as an image-capture device, so Windows will view your request like trying to copy a picture from disk to your scanner.
If you use a card reader, you can copy the file to the \DCIM\###CANON directory, but unless the picture's of a size compatible with the A470 it still won't display properly.

zoombrowser is the only application that does this?

Only one I know of. But then most of us use card readers instead of direct camera connections for everything because they're faster and more convenient.
