View Full Version : Strangers

I crossed the final frontier, or at least I crossed the next frontier. Several times earlier on I have brought my camera along when taking a walk in the streets of my hometown. The result usually being 0 photos, unless I have passed some interesting still-life along the way. Never have I had the courage to shoot complete strangers in the street. But this time, there was no getting away.

A friend of mine had long been asking me to come along and try a bit of candid street photography, and eventually I gave in.

So we went along to the biggest city close to us which is Aarhus, Denmark. Not exactly NYC, but there were a few people around, and I managed to actually hit the shutterbutton more than once.

Any C&C is welcomed, I'm quite sure I have a lot to learn here!

Great series, hard to belive you haven't been doing this for ages, I really like no. 2 the two people really pop out from the backround and are so animated, no. 3 is also a favorite the old man with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

I think these two stand out because the subjects stand out so much from the background. I like them all though!

Really nice stuff here and in the gallery. But you got busted in image 26. ;)

@robonrome. Wow, thank you. This was my first time actually shooting anything, but I have often watch people in the streets with great interest, imagining the photos I could have made. It might have paid off :-) . The old man is also my personal favorite.

@canonloader. Thanks Mitch, I'm glad you look at the gallery as well, and liked it. Actually the girl in the photo saw me across the street. She sat there talking and saw me with the camera. I tried to look as though I was shooting something else, but she was on to me. So I just thought "what the heck..." and shot a series of her. She didn't seem to mind :-)

I wish I had something like your town to shoot here. I live in a small city of 50K people, but the next big city is 2 hours away, so we just don't get a lot of people on the streets here.

@canonloader: I'm sure with 50000 ppl around, there should be enough to shoot at. DKSpook (who dragged me along ;-)) and I were pretty surprised to see how few people were actually around. It was around 4PM in the middle of the city so we figured quite a lot should have been off from work at that point, but it was relatively quiet.

@ThomGascoigne: Thank you so much. I actually like it right back to be honest. I can't understand I've been waiting for this long to take the leap :-)

@dkspook: Oh, we'll be going soon again, don't you worry !

@audioteknika: Thank you :-)
