This set is better than your TL set, the last shot is great. #3 does nothing for me though, all the faces seem OOF?
#4 is great! I just wish you could see the drummer's face.

Thanks Moe!
#3 was a focus on Bass Guitarists face, then hold camera over head to get the shot and praying the framing and focus stayed the same... I think I did ok, but I agree it is a tad soft on the bass guitarist's face. His guitar and shirt are tack sharp though, so it could be a movement thing.
I've got a few dozen similar to 4, but the thing I loved about this one was the clapping. Some of the others from this moment have the band members hands awkwardly apart, especially the drummers... I think the drum sticks over exaggerated the awkwardness.
I'll post more tonight.

Yep, like I said that is a great shot.... I too have found taking photos of musicians clapping just makes them look rediculous sometimes... It puts them in odd positions in frozen time. I like that you captured them while their hands are together, it makes sense then. And looks like most of the audience could keep time and their hands are closed too. :)

... audience... keeping time... ummm, I guess I got lucky, because this crowd couldn't keep time.... :D

1's got a bit too much negative space. 2 is good, as is 4. high balcony!

8 - If this looks a tad soft... look at his feet... How the hell do you get perfectly sharp pictures of people jumping up and down in low light?

It could very well be that your shutter speed was just not fast enough. IMO that is a minor detail, if hte eyes and face are sharp, forget the rest in most cases.

actually, it works better w/ some body blur...otherwise it would look like a puppet w/ invisible strings.
