Infrared photos

hi all, I'm interested in taking infrared pictures, but want to get some hints on camera settings. I use a canon rebel xti with a hoya R72 filter.
any advice would be appreciated,

Here I made a while ago a brief basic page about IR photos What it Infrared and How to take <-- click to see (http://johnbdigital.com/infrared/infrared_howto.php) I have to still update it ;)

However there is also trying to set a custom white balance and this can be done by taking an IR photo of grass (different subjects will affect balance differently, try and learn). This can help in giving false colors in IR photos.
