This lil guy has been dead for a while but my mom still likes it enough to keep around. This is my first ever atempt at using lights, so I'd love some advice. Man it must be nice having real stands and not using living room lamps and a balancing act.:p

What a shame the little old tree died, but you got a good shot of it.
I don't know much about lighting, but it looks good to me.

I'm curious. How did you do the variation in color? What were you using for lights and background?

Hi Pam. I used a backlight that was angled away from the wall so it the light would travel up. You can see that the wall is grey so the reason for the color change is that most of the background is over exposed. I used pink tracing paper with a slab of glass over it as the forground. Though it would be good for casting relfections with other items, it kinda ruined this shot but I needed the glass to stop the tracing paper from flying away (six individual sheets). Oh by the way this shot was done with an A80 in manual including focus wich isnt so fun through an lcd screen. Cheers.

I love Bonsai! Unfortunatly, they don't love me, and they all end up like the first pic.... Cool hobby...
