Hello,

I has been reading very good comments about sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DL Macro Super II Autofocus Lens. This is for my EOS Rebel. Someone knows about this lens? Exist some advantage of APO versión?

Thanks

APO is meant to be quite a lot better. I had the APO version, it took nice photos in bright light, in low light or inside I found F5.6 too slow for me. I returned it, but I wish i'd kept it now.

Take a look here (http://www.photographyreview.com/pscLenses/35mm,Zoom/PLS_3128_830crx.aspx).

I had the 70-300 non APO that you mention and it didn't hack it by any stretch of the imagation. Forget about shooting it wide open. I have some samples I did w/ the Sigma 28-80 and Canon 24-70mm F2.8L and well I just about threw the Sigma one in the water which I was shooting. The 70-300 was sold to get the 120-300 F2.8EX. Now, the 120-300 rocks, but it will set you back about $2K US! :) I'd be happy to repost them/find the link again.

I also had the non apo version and it was useless poop ( CDS(?) technical language is spreading, lol)
To be fair mine HAD to be faulty but still.
The APO version is a decent consumer telezoom, either the best or 2nd -best-by-a-hair
Here is a comparison with the very common cheap'ish 75-300 canon- http://www.pbase.com/argylemonkey/lens_comp

The other great choice is the canon 100-300usm.My comparison starts this page-http://members.dodo.net.au/~l8r_ron/index_2.html
It's a really nice lens- well built with genuinely fast USM focus .

How to choose between these two?
Go for the canon for sure if you need fast focus ,The sigma's strong point is very good macro ability

There are no known issues w/ the Sigma lens. As it was this one was taken w/ the Sigma lens, at Carew Castle in Wales:
