the stable was darkish so I had to use flash

the horse is a slightly different colour at the end
( )

I tried to tone it down in the other shots
but she was a beautiful colour

Marie:
Those are gorgeous! I know nothing about horses, but Mom appears to be quite a beautiful animal.

That must have been quite a special feeling to have been there so close to the actual beginning.

Thanks for posting them.

Very nice work, Marie. I think we can all appreciate a new-born foal, even if we aren't normally close to horses. This one is beautiful, much like the mother.

Thank You so much for sharing these. They are all very good. My preference is number 3, there is so much warmth between these two....

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif this place (National Stud) is beautifully kept.
and beside the Japanese gardens

the mare and foal will be going back to Italy eventually so I don't think I will be keeping tracks of this foal Sandyhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

the straw on the foal's back was put there by it's mom.
she was trying to cover up her baby
maybe to keep her 'safe and warm'

the foal could not stand up at all ...yet

I couldn't pick which shots to post originally
they all look (something) alike when together:confused: but the mare's expression is different in them all.
and sometimes she has straw between her teeth.

in this shot it looks like the foal is trying to imitate her
and very much trying to stand ...with mother's encouragement
