Has anyone had any experience with Expodisc? comparing to the gray card, which one is better and has better advantage?

For me, hands down the expodisc. I bought a 77mm (fits my largest lens) on ebay (from midwest photo) for something like $70.00 and use it all the time. Color is much more accuratae, so easy to use for wb and exposure, you don't have to worry about glare as you do with a grey card nor do you need someone to hold the card.

How about good old Kodak Gray Cards for $14.95. For this price, you get one 4 x 5 inch gray card and two 8 x 10 inch gray cards. Each card actually has a gray side AND a white side. Should you not wanting to use the gray side for white balance, the white side is there for you.

Some people answered "Pringles can cap" and "Coffee filter":

I have never used an ExpoDisc, but I have used a white coffee filter. You use it just like you would use an ExpoDisc: set lens to manual focus, hold white coffee filter in front of the lens, point towards the light source of the light you're photographing in, make a photo, use it to set custom white balance.

It works really well and I can't imagine that an ExpoDisc, which costs $$$, would do a lot better than a white coffee filter that costs almost nothing.

Grey card. You can attach supplemental info to it as well (mine, left over from film days, has colour control and grey-scale chips as well as a business card, and was always the first shot on a roll).

I use the "pringle lid" custom wb in jpg mode and whibal color cards when shooting RAW. The pringle lid method gets me close enough to the goal to not make it worth it to go the Expodisc route.

The Expodi$k is way to expensive for what it does... and it doesn't work in all lighting situations.

I us a gray card, although I also have a tri-color card (black, gray, white) a MacBeth Color Checker and most recently I bought the smaller version of the Digital Calibration Target from PhotoVision. It is black and white on one side and all white on the other and folds down to very small size like the flex frame reflectors.

They all do an excellent job for color balance and exposure control.

Can we see a shot (of the card) of how you lay it out?

If you "expose to the right", plain white paper does it for me.

Do you know if those ever relate to a specific RGB or CMYK?

That is an insanely awesome idea if so
