This is the best place as any to get this out, no one in my world seems to care for more than a second.
I moved into the house i live at now about 3 years ago, since that move my Speedlite 550EX was misplaced or lost. I've gone so long and spent hours at a time looking for it. Well today after all this time i woke up from a light nap feeling once again sickened about the whole situation. I am in dire need of some larger flash output than my 420EX so I decided i was going to sweep every crack of the house one more time to get some closere. I started an intense sweep of every section of the house, going as far as opening boxes marked XMAS and Grandmas China. Three hours later I was spent, every box in the house had been searched and i knew that was it. I took a deep breath and said, "Michael its gone, time to move on and start browsing B&H". My eye at that point turned to the washing machine, nothing is stored there but i walked over just to look. In a dark virtually unseen corner inbetween the washer and the dryer there were was a box marked "Michael Random". At the very bottom of that box my 550EX had sat quietly for 3 years waiting for today.
Oh man what a great day. Its so nice to have this kind of power again.

Now think about the cash you almost choked up for a new light, only to find this light down the road, some years later. Can you feel that in the pit of your stomach? ;)
Nice find. Proof, once again, that it pays to be stubborn in your searches!

Maybe you should sell it. After all, you got by without it for three years :);).

Yeah it also depreciated about $200 in the time it was lost.

Well, glad it worked out!
Was it really clean, too?

How annoying. I think I would have smashed it to bits to teach it a lesson.

Well, glad it worked out!
Was it really clean, too? As clean as it was when i put it in the box 3 years ago. The batteries still have some juice too, so i'm relearning the joys of a full auto flash.

And to think, had you bought the new flash, you could have had one on the camera as a master, and used the new one AND your 420 as slaves.

Well done on the find - what amazes me is how this lost flash unit has been preying on your mind for three years - Wow! It would have driven me absolutely crazy!

This had crossed my mind, but I'm gong to be getting some new glass soon so I'm still quite happy about the situation.

Imagine losing your entire rig like I did...glad it didn't take three years to find it for me...only 8 weeks...of course mine was in a waterproof housing at the bottom of Lake Lanier, Ga...
Glad you found it! I had the joy of having some "help" moving that were more interested in geting it done rather than done right...as a result I am still finding boxes we "lost" twelve years ago....
