I don't know if anyone can help me or not but i am wanting a couple of things. I need to create some pdf for my biz. I want to be able to e-mail documents to clients but I am not sure what to do. I have also seen several websites that have it where a client can click on a link and it pulls up the same pdf file..

So I got some info from bludomain but I swear this is writen in french. LOL So this is what it says..

Question:

How do I post up pdf's, video or slideshows to my site and create links for clients to view if I am on a PC using Windows XP?
Answer:

1. Click on the start button at the bottom of your screen and find "my network places" (if it is not visible there you will need to go to your control panel and find it there.)
2. for the sake of easy access I recommend right clicking on the "my network places" icon and selecting "show on desktop"
3. Double click on the "my network places" icon and select "add a network place" under network tasks and click it
4. click next and select "choose another network location" then click next again
5. enter your ftp address like this: ftp://ftp.siteaddress.com (ftp://ftp.siteaddress.com/)and click next
6. uncheck log on anonymously and enter the username given to you and click next
7. type in any name you wish to refer to your site (it will fill in a default name automatically but you can change that if you want). Click next.
8. make sure the there is a check next to where it says "Open this network place when I click finish" and click "finish"
9. a new window will open up - your username should be filled in automatically and below that you should enter the password given to you by your BluDomain representative. If you do not want to enter your password each time you can check the save password box and you will always have direct access to your site.
10. Once you fill in the appropriate information click "log on" and you will be in your website file storage area.
11. anything you want to show up on the web should be uploaded to the www directory. Once uploaded These files can be accessed in your web browser by typing in your website address - adding a / and then entering the file name. For example if you uploaded a slideshow called slideshow1 in the www directory you can access it online by going to http://www.siteaddress.com/slideshow1 (http://www.siteaddress.com/slideshow1)- You can link to this from anywhere in the text sections of your site. When naming folders be sure that you do not use spaces or capital letters.

Can anyone explain this to me: I am guessing I need some kind of ftp site or something. I host my site with GoDaddy.. Thank you very much..

For starters create your document in word and print to pdf. This will create a pdf of your document that you can then upload to your site. This is by far the easiest way to create them. The other way to do is to use something like live cycle to create forms.

To upload them open up IE 7 and type your ftp:// ftp. ----your doman----.com in the address bar
This will bring up the sign-in box.
enter your username and password click enter
then click the page button and find where is says "open FTP in windows explorer" you may or may not have to login again.

Then its all a matter of referencing that file.

Cheers

Hi Heather,

The easiest way to transfer files to and from a web host and also to manage files on the server itself is to use an FTP client like FileZilla (downloadable for free from http://filezilla-project.org/ ).

Using an FTP client with your web space allows you a tremendous amount of flexibility, plus it's not tough to learn how to use it as long as you are willing to invest 15 or 20 minutes of your time in messing around with the software to learn it.

When you get web space, you normally get FTP access, it's like automatically getting crust when you buy bread.
You will have a user name and password - those are what you use to allow FileZilla to connect with your directories within your web space.

Using FileZilla is a drag 'n drop experience once you are connected.
You can drag the PDF off your desktop and drop it into any directory in your web space and FileZilla will upload to that spot.

I use Adobe Acrobat to create PDF files. Simple to use and most effective.

When you use FileZilla to upload a file to your website and you want someone else to be able to download it from there, do they also need to have the FileZilla software?

Once uploaded to the site, and you point the people to the file, they will not need Filezilla, only some sort of PDF viewer. Filezilla is only for you to use to manage the files on your website.
