Do you shoot on continuous shooting or manually hit the shutter for each photo.
I shoot manually, never on continuous. I'm wondering if I should be shooting continuous to get the great shots, I seem to miss a lot of connections to the face, sometimes I'm on point, sometimes just off. I'm wondering if the competition shoots on continuous-

Thanks-

Joe

It would be the same and I shoot in burst mode also. I just shot MMA the other night (link below). Just remember, just because you are shooting burst mode does not mean you will get the shot as the action happens very fast in sports. You have to start the burst at the time of the action.

Nice gallery!

I think I tried burst once in the past two years, only because I had read somewhere that shooting in burst, that only the first frame in the series is in focus-that kept me away from shooting that way. I'll try it out, see what I can come up with at the next fights. I'm tired of having before, and after and missing the crucial hit...

Thanks for the help~
Joe

Hey Joe, thanks for the info.

Are you going to the Plymouth fight this weekend? Mike Jr.(from FightZone) spoke to Mike Sr. and I'm getting hooked up with a media pass for my class project. Hung out yesterday at the gym for a bit to practice and going back tomorrow night for a bit more. Great bunch of guys they've got there, super friendly. Turns out I know one of them(JC) from about 10-12 years ago, looked just a tad smaller back then.

Anyhow if you do end up going your more than welcome to give the 70-200 a go if you want. Thinking of bringing the 300 along to go upstairs for a different perspective.

Oh yeah BTW, another fight has been added to the card as of last Friday. The first ever female match for Full Force(and I think for Ma.) this weekend from what I'm hearing at the gym.

I have it on continuous but rarely just hold the shutter down and let it shoot in burst. The XT buffer is too small to shoot in a continuous burst all the time. My luck, I will shoot a burst, fill the buffer, and be waiting for it to clear itself while I miss the action haha! But I leave it in continuous mode just in case.

exactly what happened to me Saturday night, a title fight too! I missed the tap and the winner lying on the floor with his arms and legs raised!!

Certain things deserve a burst. Watching a guy grapple to position for a choke or an arm bar isn't very eventful, but watching someone throw a roundhouse kick or a knockout punch certainly does.

Main thing to learn is fighting techniques, this allows you to anticipate what is about to happen. Sounds cheesy I know but it works for me. I shoot in burst, and unless I am staring at the ring girls, I usually get the good shots.
