Had lots of fun last night at a 20over limited game, from 7-10pm last night.

I took along my tripod as well, as I didn't see any rules. And when I got there, they wouldn't let me in. Told me to walk about 1.5km back to my car. I argued that, and the reason I wasn't allowed in with it, was not the fact I'm taking photos, but the fact the tripod is a weapon... Yes a weapon. I've kinda seem the javelin resemblance in the past. I guess my fist would be more useful.

Anyway, after enough talking, they told me to go to the head administration building at Eden Park, where they kindly looked after my tripod. What a hassle.

Anyway, to the game, obviously Australia won. How could NZ win with these silly wigs? :)

Mr. Billy Bowden - The funniest umpire I've ever seen.

First ball of the game.

Then only time I zoomed out to capture both the bowler and the batsmen, Jeff Wilson (ex All Black great), gets his ball smashed for a 6 onto the roof!

3 fielders diving after the same ball.. Landed right in the middle, too bad. :D

Simon Katich, smerking after a girl whistling at him.

9th wicket lost, in the final over. Only 1 or 2 balls remaining.
(Final ball, was hit down near the boundary, and caught.. )

And an Aussie supporter just asking for it, from the 99% Kiwi crowd.

They are some good shots there. It is a shame they wouldn't let you in with a tripod. But in saying that you managed to work around restrictions. What lens where you using?

It is a shame that NZ didn't win. but then what's new. you know with only one shot of a NZer I am wondering if you are supporting Australia :)

;)

No umm, I have 3/4 photos were from Australia's batting innings, and NZ fielding, as the light was much better. The last few shots were in complete darkness, with stadium lighting.

I was only using a Sigma 70-300, which will only stop down to 5.6. Had to make use with some ISO 1600, and even 3200 couple of times. Still managed to get around 1/250, or bit faster. Would love to have one of the 300 or 400 primes, which the sports photographers had.

I'd love to have a go at cricket photography. I did a few at Gloucester, Edgebaston & Bristol and even got a couple onto Jonty Rhodes' website but that was with my old camera and this new one will take awesome pics. I'm looking forward to the summer!
