Hi everyone,
I am having a new computer built and will be needing a monitor. It will be used primarily for photo editing, but also perhaps some gaming, but the photo editing will be the priority for it. Unfortunately, I only have a budget left of about 200 for the monitor. I know that wont get me the type of monitor I really need or want, but its all I have to work with :)
I have a couple of ideas on monitors and would like to see if they are worth getting, or if anyone has a better idea for a monitor in my budget I would really like to hear about it...anyhow, here are a couple of them I was considering: (sorry for the long links, I dont know how to shorten the url!)

I don't know that I would get either of those.

You want an S-IPS or S-PVA panel.

Make sure you get an 8-bit panel and not a 6-bit, do a search on google to learn about it.

I would look at Dell's displays. More expensive, but well worth it. Or Samsung.

Thanks Andrew,
Unfortunately, I have a pretty strict budget of around 200, so I guess unless I can find an open box or refurbished S-IPS or S-PVA panel for a good price, I will be stuck with a TN panel :(....so If I have to get a tn panel, what should I be looking for in terms of contrast, etc?

Have you considered a used CRT?
What screen do you have now?

I just have a HP presario 2580US laptop. I'm getting a new computer built (should be ready by this weekend I hope). I hadnt considered a used crt as I wanted to go more flatscreen, but thats an option I will have to look into I think...thanks!!
