That's right, what inserts (if any) do you recommend for your shoes if you're going to be on your feet all day at a wedding? I searched and a lot of people said "comfortable shoes", but some dress shoes can be considered anything BUT comfortable. So is there a particular insert that you swear by, or will something from Wal-Mart do just fine? It'll be interesting to hear what the community has to say. Thanks in advance!

Off the shelf orthodics are good but not as good as something done for your particular feet by a podiatrist - if you can spare the money to get some proper ones made your feet will likely thank you at the end of a long day on your feet.

you should be 'gellin....like a fellon! haha!
seriously though...I used the dr. scholls gel inserts in my old workboots...worked out marvelously. I work full time as an engineer/surveyor so I am always on me feet walking around. I would give those a shot.

I wear Black Nike Shoes. Your quiet in a church, and guests have something to tease you about!

I can't even stand the difference between wearing thick socks vs. thin socks with my regular shoes, so how do you thing your current shoes will even FIT when they are filled orthotics?! It seems you have to buy extra wide in order to even accomodate the orthotics.
Now that leather soles are so expensive, the rubber molded soled shoes are very comfy even without supplemental orthotics.

I'm thinking of adding a line in my contract that I will be wearing discrete dark hiking sneakers (they are sooooooooooo comfy!)....I can't image wearing dress shoes while shooting a wedding all day. Even worse are those "Tux" shoes you get when you rent a tux (I've been a groomsman in a few weddings....)

I have actual perscription orthotics. I wear those in my running shoes. I explain to the bride that I have foot problems and they usually understand. I try to find a dark color so that they are not noticeable.

I got the inserts from Walmart for $4.95. forgot the brand though, but I think thats the only one which in that price.
Its for the heel only so its not full coverage from heel to toe.
You have to use shoes with lace though because the inserts will add more space in the shoes.

I wear SAS shoes which are very, very comfy. They run about 125.00 and worth it.
