Will be going to Franklin, NC this weekend, any good tips? I have a Canon G9 with three different filters and 2 lens (telephoto and macro I think). We plan on doing some hiking but have never been before.

Hi, Crissy
You didn't mention if you were asking about camera tips or locations, and if the later, how far you were willing to travel. If the later, consider: Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, and of course the Mountain Water Scenic Byway / Nantahala River Gorge. Although the NR gorge up to Highlands has limited areas to pull off, it is one of the most spectacular drives on the east coast. Have fun.

A rain coat is probablly going to be your best friend. That and a good pair of shoes.

And consider the Joyce Kilmer Forest if you have time. Words cannot describe it.

We will only have one full day there, will be camping at Standing Indian Campground and will have all day Saturday. It is our first time up there and we want to see waterfalls and do hiking.
And, I could use camera and location tips :) I did another post on General Photography to get info on my filters/lens (I haven't used them before)

Then a quick and dirty word of good advice: practice in your back yard before you go.

Thanks for the advice, we ended up staying around the Standing Indian Campground but I feel I got some pretty good shots. I have some posted in Nature and Landscapes.
