I'm trying to decide between really right stuff's BH-40 head and gitzo's G2272 head.

The Gitzo head has levers on the sides which I imagine will help move the camera/lens into the right spot for a shot. It also has variable drag so using a telephoto lens and tracking birds/other wild life should be quite easy and jerk-free.

The BH-40 on the other hand doesn't have the above mentioned features, but still seems to be recommended quite highly.

Has anyone had experience with these two heads or either one? Any ideas how to decide which one to get?

I think I have settled on getting the gitzo explorer g2220 with rapid column tripod since it has infinitely adjustable legs, and a nice manuverable center column which would be great for macro shots. The carbon fiber version would be great, but I think I'll have to make do with the aluminum one since it is cheaper.

For an explorer a Gitzo Off center ballhead might have advantages.
Otherwise: Markins M10.
