I am looking for some pricing advice. I am an amateur photographer who has always had a passion for photography, however, it was not until recently that I decided to try and share my work with others.

I have contacted a youth hockey league in my area that has a league website. They are constantly updating photos on the site from games throughout the league. I contacted them and asked if they have specific photographers with whom they work with or are they open to have other photographer's contribute.

They replied back saying they would be happy to have new, fresh, photographers and asked what I charge.

Now, this is a league that runs from Sept - April with games every Saturday and Sunday. They league is also on a limited budget.

What is best advice as to what I should ask for in regards to price? Should it be an hourly rate? And per pic rate?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm not an expert and you'll get a lot of advice here.
My only advice is price the photos according to your area.
The same picture in NY will sell for a lot more than it will where I live, in rural WV.
Good luck.

Hi Kevin

So go on then, share :)

Seriously, let's say you take 100 good photo's, find out what they are happy to pay, if you are happy to accept that, then that's the right price.

If not, discuss until you are both happy, easy.

And welcome to POTN

Exactly and then once you get the feel for what you are worth you can start setting your prices from there. Also remember that each client's needs are individually based. One may want twenty pictures of one perfect image while another wants one print of twenty different images. Start with a locally compatible base and then work from there.
