Are there much differences between the Imac 20" lcd and the 20" cinema display?

Thanks

The iMac 20" is TN, the ACD 20" is S-IPS.

but even it being TN panel it's better than any regular consumer options, isn't it?
Is the difference between the imac and the acd too "visible"?

Thanks

No, it'll be the same as any other TN panel.

Yes, the difference between the iMac 20" and ACD 20" is quite noticeable; the former is a 6-bit panel, the latter is an 8-bit panel. The 24" iMac has an H-IPS panel, though (8-bit), and is quite a good display - and thus the substantially higher cost vs. the 20".

FYI

Apple does not make the displays - they just use panels from other manufacturers so they will be just like "regular consumer" panels, whatever regular consumer is - I would think that regular consumers purchase iMac's?

99% of LCD monitors have panels that are going to be made by one of the following manufacturers:

LG/Philips
Samsung
Hitachi
Mitsubishi
Sharp
NEC
Fujitsu
AUO

The first two are by far the most popular panels you will find in displays.
