Flipping through the paper today, and both FutureShop and BestBiu dropped the price of the D-rebel (the kit with 18-55) by $150 bucks (Can funds)
So from 1150 to 1000. I've seen it for 50 bucks off now and then, but this is a price drop, not a sale. I know theres been talk of a new camera coming out, think this maybe a way to blow out stock with the impending release?
.........just checked Henrys as well, they've lowered.. .damm its dropping everywhere... there goes the re-sale value :(

The new camera is already out! It's the dRebel-XT, or the Kiss 'n' Digital, or the 350D.

Check it out in the forums!

I don't think it'll drop drastically, but who knows. I finally jumped into dSLR and grabbed a basically brand new D. Rebel with 3 years left on a best buy PSP plan for $700. Can't wait for an upgrade to XT already:twisted:

Look here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/templatedata/pressrelease/20050217_rxt.html

This is from Canon USA, and it says that the price for the Drebel with the kit lens will be reduced to $799 USD. I imagine Canada and the rest of the world will announce their policy soon.

Have Fun,

Also check your local store, I always found that prices are different at store than what canon usually advertises (atleast here in Japan) Actually price may vary from vendor to vendor itself !

Well, it's been announced, but I don't know that I'd say it's already out. Since I don't believe there's any store one could visit today, whip out the credit card, and go home with a Rebel XT.

You poor soul. Best Buy and their damn service plans they always want to show down your throat, even when you buy a $20 item. I go there to look at items, but rarely buy.

I do not like Best Buy. I've bumped heads with them on more than one occasion. Having said that, their extended warranty is no better or worse than those being pushed by just about every other major retailer. The obvious way to deal with it is to say 'No thanks' when they offer it. There are no guns to anyone's head. These extended warranties are Best Buy's way of dealing with huge overheads and thin profit margins. (along with hiring a lot of kids at near-minimum wages---now that's something to get upset about).

Hellashot I got the D. Reb. from ebay. From my past experiences with best buys PSP plans, without them I could still be using an old school 500 mhz laptop right now instead of a 3 gig laptop and busting my eyes on a crappy bigscreen tv instead of a HDTV LCD Tv.;) I buy all my crap online but for over $1000 purchases I like to have some insurance. I think electronics nowadays are made to breakdown at some point after the manufacture warranty expires.:(

I bought my cam at BB along with the extended warranty. If I had it to do all over again, though, I don't think I would have bought the warranty. Hearing the horror stories as well as having the experience I've had with BB with all big money purchases, I think I'd rather throw my DRebel off a cliff before ever taking it to BB for service.

I'm not saying that I'll never buy another cam from BB, but if I do, I hightly doubt that I'll get the extended warranty.

Speaking as one of those kids who got hired at near-minimum-wage (I worked the Christmas season two or three years ago for some extra cash), I wouldn't dream of buying anything from Best Buy, at least from the store at which I worked (#423 in Short Pump). Spend your money somewhere else.

Hi, I just went to Beach Camera, where I bought my dRebel.and the price is at $799.00. I got mine in December for $800.00 - $100.00 rebate. It's got to go down quite a bit to beat that. No matter what - new drebel or not - it's still a great camera.
