Couldn't resist one last new thread before I jet off overseas in 10 hours from now, heading for Surfers Paradise/Brisbane, Australia.

I took these shots 3 days ago on Wednesday.

Two lovebirds, watching the sun go down.

The sun's eye rolling away.

Twenty minutes after sunset, the horizon still glows orange. 1/2 sec shutter, showing velvet water.

35 minutes after sunset. Getting pretty dark, and the moon was glowing down.

And before all this happened, shot my younger sister who came along for the ride, and was watching over the 50 odd surfers in the vicinity.

Very nice pictures! I am jealous of your location -- I tried to go there with the Navy, but none to my amazement, I ended up in Japan! ;)

Now that's just too unfair!

Everyone should get a chance of coming here. Some wonderful places.

Now it's my time to get out of here for a bit. May look at living in UK in 2-3 years.
Going to Australia for 10 days, so don't expect a quick reply to any questions. ;)

Nice pics wazza. Glad to see you included the last one... your younger sister is a worthy photo subject.

You should spend the extra couple of hundred and come to Perth. Beats Surfers any day of the week :D

Thanks for the comments. Just got back last night from Australia. Expect some images, when I can unload them from CD. Took approx 2500 shots in 10 days. The only problem is my 200Gb HDD is full.

The settings for those images.. Well I mostly use AV mode, and set aperture to most desired effect. Generally a point and shoot image, will select the sharpest setting for that particular lens. And other times, such as the after sunset shot, I wanted the water to be smooth looking, so had to change to f10, to get a 1/2 sec shutter speed. I just play around with the controls, until I get the desired shutter speed. Always keep ISO 100 as well, as I don't want noise ruining an image, from a sunset. Use a tripod instead, to make up for the slower shutter speeds.
