Well 218 lookers and no reply.... I rarely C.C as I dont feel as qualified as many others on here.
1) Fine
2)Lots on here dont particularly like selective colouring. It is not that for me , but the shot as a whole seems very busy...the idea and shot are fine ,personally I would, if possible fade the background (in black and white)and have the flowergirl stand out in normal black and white,so your eyes are focused on the girl first and not overpowed by the background.
3)Nice perhaps a little fill flash on the faces.
4)Nice capture.
cheers

I agree with Valijoy on the selective colouring. I feel that it works on very few images, usually ones with lots of background blur and focus on the coloured subject. A lot of people have defended it recently - like a backlash against the backlash against selective colouring - each to their own I guess. IMO it ruins a perfectly good image making it look gimicky. The first time you saw it way back in the 80's you might have thought 'oh, cool'. But come on. That there is a beautiful photograph, capturing a very special moment of people who love each other dearly - completely bollocksed by digital gimmickry. Sorry, It's been a crappy day. I love the others. The last one could use a little fill like Valijoy said or a different conversion. Beautiful moments, well done.

I really love your photos! I just got married a few years ago and I have selective coloring as well! It is what young brides want. Or at least I did! I have my first wedding next weekend! I am very nervous! Your pictures are only what I could hope for!!

Aubry,

Which Temecula Winery was this at?

I think these are nice :) ... not a fan of selective coloring either, but alot of brides LOVE it, so I never really comment on those in here. I get requests for it ALL of the time.
I love the perception on #3!

I enjoy all of your captures but not fond of the selective coloring for the most part. I do like to dabble and get artsy. Sometimes I like what I have done initially and then later I rethink it (like some of the work I initially put on my website... am definitely going to be changing quite a bit of that as soon as time permits). In this case, I think it is just too stark of a contrast. I agree about the conversion process on the black & white. It is a very nice capture but think the conversion to b/w could be better.

I rechecked my site and found that I have several images where I applied selective coloring & other very artistic views. In fact, I did a similar conversion as yours on my site to 3 images, maybe more, but there wasn't much background in 2 of them... the third is a closeup of the bride's feet and on that one I just did the toenails.

I am thankful for the discussion about some people really disliking selective coloring as it has started me rethinking my site layout. While some potential customers may like my artistic images, others may really dislike it & it could turn them off. I think I will have to have a separate gallery of artistic images. hmmmm.... Well off to grab a wink before my girls get up. I must stop waking up in the middle of the night!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. But this was actually taken at my house in La Cresta (Murrieta). My parents owned a wedding facility.
The bride had asked me to do alot of selective coloring. So thats exactly what she got. lol
