This lion's head is believed to be the oldest publicly accessible statue in the state of California. It is on the end of the lavenderia at the Santa Barbara Mission.

Nice composition. I like the way the sun is hitting the lion, but not everything around.

It's probably close, but I'd think you probably have something on your side of the country that's a little older. The Santa Barbara Mission was founded in 1786, so the statue dates back to somewhere around that time, I would think.

I've been there...Very nice shot. Love the 2 mission roofs in the background too, makes for great composition.
