I'm thinking of doing some lighting/portrait photo workshops. What are the best url/websites that can help get the word out? What other ideas could help promote a photography workshop? The more ideas the better. thanks!

I would print up some flyers and post them at every photo store in your area, as well as telling the people in the store about it. I would also post flyers in grocery stores (they all have big community bulletin boards) and libraries. And then post an annoucement in the photo category in craigslist for your area. Where are you doing this at? Why not start the promotion right here.

If there are some uni/colleges in the area, see if you can advertise there. Maybe also on Gumtree and Craigslist?

Global? Are you able to cover that market?
For this, could you provide information on a bit more about what you aim to achieve, how you will do it, who is your market, how would people attend workshops?
For this, research it vs people on POTN since most people will look for workshops in their area. I know I would.

Maybe start a local Meetup group on that site? It's how I got to my first workshop.

yep, you'd have to have a pretty substantial workshop to have people travel globally to it.

I'd also ask if you could host it at a public library and use their resources. You could also try a small newspaper ad, but I'm not sure how effective it would be.
