Nice images!
YOu can add dramatic impact if you catch the hand on the ball - tough, but once you get your timing down your pics will be great - and the parents will want to buy them!

Yep. You are not going to get much better shots with the f/4 in those lighting conditions. I let my son use my 20D and 70-200 f/4 for volleyball. I am not ready to let him borrow the 2.8 yet.

they are a tad bit noisy.. try reducing the noise in photoshop or Noise ninja or something... work on your timeing alittle bit and you can get the ball to stop motion. Nice job so far though. Keep working on it. I shoot for my college and I shot a match the other night... I know how bad the lighting can get lol... Good job none the less...

thanks, i was shooting at ISO 1600 so that I could get the shutter speed up as high as I could. I'm saving for an f/2.8 which should help

the 30d has the extension to ISO 3200 you do know that right? it will be alot noiser but still... the 2.8 will most likely be my next buy unless the school wants to buy me one... lol

I like these, the noise yeah, but with what you have and no flash (which I can't believe some places let you use) there isn't much you could have done.

If I had to be picky, I would say, they're a little warm, probably the lights or maybe the metering picked up the floor colors a little too much.

Hmm the last shot, no ball, no action, I would have stuck it in the drawer.

My comments would be, a shot without the ball or some action is not usable. but its not a hard and fast rule.

gotcha, thanks for the help, I'll be shooting another 2 games this weekend assuming I can get out of my regimental duties
