Sorry to hear. Some people like their title, others find it comical. I can understand why some people do not like the idea.

Your best bet will be to PM one of the mod's if it really gets unbearable.

Usually a title is given for a stupid/funny/embarrassing thing that has happened to you, such as lightrules for example.

I'm sure the mods would not have given you that title if they thought it was going to offend.

Yes that's pretty much what I said but the title fairy took it out of context though and so do many other people.

I think the TF only strikes people that are considered to be friends of the forum and regular users. It's light hearted and a bit of harmless fun. There are worse titles than that out there. But PM CDS or Pekka and they'll be able to change it back for you.

Really the titles are all in good fun. They are not meant to be mean. If you are truly angry with the title you have I am sure it can be reset and I will pass the message on to those with access.

I had to spend the next 10 mins doing decompression 1/2 frozen!!!! being dragged up by my buddy who was waiting for me to kick the bucket.. i konw he was eyeing my gear :D i welcome the 10-15 seconds in the water... lol its the 8-10 mins that scares the crap out of me!

Yes in some of the subfreezing waters like the grand banks i could see it. Also keep in mind while my suit did flood with icey water i was wearing thermo underwears which are meant to still keep you mildy warm even when flooded. but yeat i was very cold and very numb!

The TF doesn't work like that. The TF is carefull when selecting titles and who gets them so when someone rejects a title like in this case a new title is rarely given. So I suspect the next title Derek gets is Gold member once he reach the post count for it.

If you were truly offended then you would have gone about getting your title removed in a more mature manner, it is true that I got a chuckle out of reading your 'bafoon'[sic] title, however anyone on here with a little knowledge knows that a title is just a title! it is something silly that you have posted or earned. If you have posted something on the interweb under your screen name then it is there for everyone to read! and further it will always be associated with you!

That IS exactly the idea behind the titles. They are purely meant as good fun and in no instance has there been any intent to offend anybody.

And just for future for other members getting a title they are offended by. The best way to go about it is to contact a moderator instead of starting a thread like this.
